Sonatina for flute and piano
This piece was created in January 2011 from a fragment for flute and orchestra that I had already written earlier. In this fragment I have set to music a scene from my favorite book, "Across the Nightingale Floor" by Lian Hearn.
In the scene, the main character, Takeo, is sitting in a temple garden mourning the loss of his adoptive father when he suddenly hears a beautiful flute melody. This became the second movement of the Sonatina, after which I wrote two more.
The recording on this website contains only the first movement of the Sonatina, but you can also listen to the other two movements and purchase the sheet music on the publisher's website.
Instrumentation: flute, piano
