BIOGRAPHY

Julian Mörth was born in Rotterdam in 1990 and grew up in Mainz, where he received his first piano lessons at the age of eight. From 2004-2009 he was a student at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz, studying piano (Wolfgang Nieß, Uwe Zeutzheim), clarinet, composition (Gerhard Fischer-Münster) and singing (Joachim Keuper). In 2010 he began his bachelor's piano studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz with Prof. Karin Germer and Prof. Andrzej Pikul, which he completed in 2014. He took several master classes in the south of France with Janine Laroche and Prof. Jacques Rouvier, as well as in Poland and Spain with Prof. Andrzej Pikul. He also took further composition lessons with Cord Meijering in 2012.

From 2021 to 2023, Julian Mörth studied master's choral conducting at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts with Prof. Florian Lohmann.

Julian Mörth has been composing since he was nine years old. In addition to some works for piano, various chamber music ensembles and orchestra, he also composes a lot for choir, inspired by his five-year membership in the Mainz Cathedral Choir. His work now includes more than 100 pieces. Julian Mörth has received several awards for his works at various composition competitions, including the International Orange Chorale of San Francisco Composition Competition and the International Carol Composition Contest of the Brazos Valley Chorale in Texas. This was followed by further competition victories in America and Croatia, as well as performances of his works in the USA, Mexico, England and Germany.

Since 2017, Julian Mörth conducts the Ebersheimer Kammerorchester, which has already premiered some of his works. In addition, at the beginning of 2019 he founded the "Mörth Singers", a small chamber choir that meets regularly for projects. Since September 2022, Julian Mörth has been the director of the Main-Taunus Kammerchor in Bad Soden and since April 2024 the director of the Evangelischer Kirchenchor Zornheim.

In addition to his permanent ensembles, Julian Mörth also leads choirs on a project basis. In October 2022, for example, he rehearsed the Rhineland-Palatinate State Youth Choir for two concerts at the Mainz State Theater. In January 2024, he also led the first project of the newly founded NEO Chorakademie. In 2023, Julian Mörth was assistent of Yuval Weinberg at the Meersburg Summer Academy.
